LA streets are dark, especially with so many streetlights out of service. Here’s one inexpensive way to change that: LADWP’s Outdoor Lighting program. The Industrial BID recently installed two of DWP’s lights at an intersection that last quarter had seen a dramatic increase in LAPD calls and four homicides.
All you need is a wooden LADWP utility pole with an appropriate voltage within 25 feet of your property line. There are NO repair or replacement costs. If your light is ever broken or needs to be replaced, you pay nothing. LADWP pays for all repairs and replacements.
If you change your mind within seven days, you can call DWP to make any adjustments or to remove the fixture. No questions asked. After one year you can cancel LADWP Outdoor Lighting at any time, with no penalty or remaining financial commitment.
The cost for the two lights requested by the BID is only $61.
This is highly efficient, high output lighting – up to one hundred and sixty-five times more light than a standard 60 watt household light bulb. These fixtures provide six to ten times as much light as conventional lighting for the same energy consumption.
