Democratic gubernatorial candidate Matt Mahan stopped by our office and invited us to join him on a walk through the district, focusing on the unrelenting impact of street homelessness. Mahan is currently the mayor of San Jose and during his term he has made street encampments a focus of his efforts. After our walk, Mahan dropped by the Midnight Mission for a look at the amazing work being done to help transition men and women from the sidewalk to a more secure and dignified life. We encourage all candidates for office to come and see Skid Row for themselves. A walk provides a much different experience than viewing it on a screen or through a windshield.
