Councilmember Kevin de Leon invited the BID to participate in his press conference July 30 announcing the arrest of more than 80 suspects as part of a crackdown on copper wire theft from City infrastructure.
City streetlights are continuously disabled by thieves who sell the copper wire to recyclers. In our BID, it is not uncommon for a third of our streetlights to be out of service, leaving long stretches of our area in complete darkness.
BID Executive Director Estela Lopez spoke at the press conference and expressed appreciation for de Leon and LAPD’s efforts.
