The Industrial BID is grateful to the LA City Fire Department for their efforts to bring a serial arsonist into custody. One person is believed to have been responsible for several downtown fires, including a massive blaze within our BID at 749 S. Kohler St. on the morning of September 19.
Intentionally set fires abound in our BID. BID Safety Officers are equipped with fire extinguishers and are often first on the scene of fires that range from small debris of “garbage” fires to large encampment fires that threaten lives and structures. Our BID area sidewalks are home to 2,000 individuals who often set fires for warmth. Our Safety Patrol speaks with these individuals and advises them to keep their warming fires from escalating and leading to serious consequences.
